Description
Technical Specs
Control air intake of your vehicle. By lowering the air intake volume signal, your cars computer will decrease the amount of fuel used. This part is essential for HHO applications to ensure the computer does not compensate for the added fuel efficiency created by your HHO system. This item will control (1) sensor.
How a map maf enhancer works
MAP or MAF Controller
The MAP or MAP controller is designed to control the Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor, the Mass Airflow sensor or if you purchased the combo controller, you can control both.
To install the controller, first find the signal wire from the sensor you intend to modify by following the below listed steps:
- First verify that you have located the correct sensor, conduct an Internet search for the vehicle and part name. Most online part stores will show a picture of the sensor.
- Disconnect the plug from the sensor and turn on the ignition without starting the vehicle. Identify the constant voltage wire. Some will be ~12v and some will be ~4v.
- Then reconnect the plug and start the vehicle.
- Next look for the Ground wire. It should be ~0v or if you have a MultiMeter you can do a continuity test with ground.
- Next look for a wire that has ~1.20v. It should fluctuate at idle.
- Next rev the engine and see if the voltage drops or raises.
- If the voltage raises to ~2.5-3.5 then you have located the wire.
- If the voltage drops when you rev the engine, you will have to modify the reference voltage going into the sensor, which is the constant voltage wire you located earlier.
- Once you have located the wire, cut the wire and connect a length of wire that will run into the passenger compartment. 14g primary wire is preferred but speaker wire will also work.
- Find a location in your vehicle to mount the MAP/MAF Controller that is in arms reach while driving.
- Ground the Brown wire to a good solid ground.
- Connect the Orange with White (MAF) Orange (MAP) wire to the computer side of the sensor wire you cut earlier.
- Connect the Green with White (MAF) Green (MAP) wire to the sensor side of the sensor wire you cut earlier.
- If you purchased the combo controller, repeat the steps above using the optional colors.
Adjustment
If you have a ScanGauge, ScanTool or equivilent, you can actually see the MAP pressure or MAF voltage lower as you turn the dials clockwise. If you turn the dials too far, your car will stumble and eventually stall.
***NOTE*** You should NEVER use the MAP/MAF controller without your HHO system on and working properly. SERIOUS damage can occur to your pistons or valves if you run your engine lean without some type of fuel replacement, such as HHO. The excess fuel your car wastes is actually used to cool the exhaust gas temperatures, by dialing down the fuel you remove that safety feature, however, if you are running an HHO system you have mitigated that problem.
As an additional safety precaution, install a PWM/Amp Gauge Controller so you always know when your system is working properly.
While you are driving your vehicle and your HHO system is running, slowly turn the dials clockwise until you feel the car lose power, then turn the dial counter clockwise until full power is restored. That is what we call the "Sweet Spot" That spot is where the HHO can effectively replace the fuel you are leaning out. That spot can change based on the way you drive. The less aggressive you drive and the more HHO you push into your intake the more fuel you can lean off. Thus the savings!!!
The best way to keep track of this is to get yourself a ScanGauge II. We don't sell them, but we highly recommend them. They are the only way you can see the instant results of your tuning.
Features
WE HAVE 2 NEW VERSIONS OF OUR MAP-MAF CONTROLLER.
BOTH UNITS HAVE A SIMPLE CONTROL THAT ALLOWS YOU TO SIMPLY SWITCH BACK AND FORTH FROM HYBRID MODE TO FACTORY OR OEM MODE.
YOUR VEHICLES AIR INTAKE SYSTEM WILL HAVE A MAP OR A MAF SENSOR , AND IN SOME CASES BOTH SENSORS.
GENERALLY YOU WILL CHOOSE ONE OR THE OTHER TO CONTROL WITH THIS DEVICE. IT IS USUALLY NEVER NEEDED TO CONTROL BOTH. THIS IS FURTHER DISCUSSED IN OUR INSTALL MANUAL.
VERSION 1: HAS ONLY A SINGLE CONTROLLER KNOB AND ONE CITY/HWY SWITCH. CITY/HIGHWAY IS SWITCHED AND TUNING IS DONE WITH ONE KNOB. THIS MAKES FOR EASIER OPERATION BECAUSE ONCE THE DEVICE IS TUNED ITS A SIMPLE FLIP OF A SWITCH.
VERSION 2: HAS A SWITCH FOR OEM AND HYBRID MODE .... IS THE STANDARD DUAL EDGE CONTROLLER WITH TWO KNOBS , WORKS THE SAME WAY AS THE VERSIONS 1 BUT ALLOWS FOR FINER TUNING BUT A BIT MORE USER INTERACTION
